Set-Typhon binding ritual

Image
Ritual for binding and restraining an enemy This was a ritual I devised to remedy a personal situation, where a jealous individual was deliberately fomenting trouble for my family. The invocation in this rite is based on a spell in the Leyden Demotic magical papyrus (PDM IV, column XXIII, a rite to inflict catalepsy), combined with a long tested Hoodoo technique. I performed this a year ago, as the situation was escalating, and approximately a week afterward, the individual went quiet and has not stirred up any strife since.   Some may question my use of Saturnian associations for Set-Typhon, who is a bellicose, Martian deity, but in the lead up to the final version of this rite, I had several insights urging me to funnel Typhon-Set’s unwieldy, aggressive nature, through the tempering medium of Saturn, whence restriction and subjection arise (but which likewise shares Mars’ malefic nature).  Moreover, in the Egyptian myth, Seth used a leaden coffin to imprison a...

Prayer to Maia, mother of Hermes

Refulgent, lofty Maia of starry gaze, eldest one of all luminaries. Bound with Zeus in sacred union, Thou didst beget venerable Hermes, whereat the whole cosmos rejoiced. Purest of countenance, comeliest of all Thy sisters, who didst enthrone Thyself upon  the heavenly vault, circumscribing the celestial pole in harmonious circles. Mighty  ZIZAUBIÔ , thy holy angel, venerates Thee, and brings Thy will upon the terrestrial regions, weaving the four elements in sacred equilibrium. Goddess, do Thou attend to these sacred rites, at this very hour and moment, bestowing Thy favour on mine endeavours.

Decanal healing ritual

Healing illnesses with the 36 Decans Originally published in the Hermetic Tablet , Winter 2016. Thanks to Nick Farrell for kindly allowing me to publish this and other material there.   The following is a simple method I developed working with the Decans for healing purposes. It is quite different from what is found in the Sacred Book of Hermes to Asclepius, but it works well. I have experimented with Hoodoo-type techniques brought into other systems I work with, and found them to be tremendously effective, so this method incorporates some of them. For the complete list of Decan names & the body parts they govern, please see the Sacred Book of Hermes . Requirements : small white votive candle, a photo of the person to be healed, a small disk-shaped magnet, olive oil. If you have an herb related to the decan, mix it into the oil. Prior to the ritual, draw the figure of the decan on a piece of paper, with its Greek name, then burn it to ash, and mix it...

Sefer ha-Malbush: The Book of the Garment

The Sefer ha-Malbush or ‘Book of the Garment’ is a Jewish esoteric text, consisting of a ritual for evoking angelic beings and performing various feats. This text can tentatively be traced back to the Geonic period (6 th -11 th centuries), and may have originated in Babylonia, where Jewish communities thrived during this era. Another mystical work with the same title, but only distantly related to it, is found in the Sefer Raziel. The ritual embodied in the Book of the Garment involves a practice referred to as lebishat ha-shêm , in Hebrew, literally ‘putting on the Name’. Essentially, the practitioner seeks to impregnate their being with the Name or Names of God, usually by immersing themselves in water and reciting the Names. Variations on this procedure were commonplace in Jewish theurgic literature. In the Sword of Moses, another magical text from the Geonic era, we find an impressive ritual to evoke the Angel of the Presence, which begins with a procedure for putting on a ...
